The Role

To act as an ambassador for Carpetright by offering a friendly and professional sales and floor consultation by following the Surveyor Journey, measuring and pricing service to customers in their homes and in store, closing the sale, where possible, before the end of visit, to achieve pre-set sales and conversion targets.

Main Responsibilities

  1. To offer a professional and customer-friendly advisory and consultation, estimating and sales services to potential customers on their premises and in store, to achieve pre-set sales and conversion targets.


  1. Using the Surveyor Journey to ensure that leads are converted into sales and that deposits/balances taken in the customers home are paid in line with Company guidelines.


  1. To meet customers’ needs by attending all appointments on time and out of hours as necessary, ensuring that customers are advised in advance of any changes to times or dates.


  1. To appraise all customer and Internet leads and, by establishing the customer’s needs prior to the visit, ensuring that he/she takes relevant samples with him/her for all customer visits to increase the probability of closing the sale. If necessary contacting the customer before the appointment.


  1. To follow up all internet lead consultations where the customer has indicated that they will not be visiting a store to ensure that any further information is provided and that sales opportunities are maximized. Where customers indicate that they will be visiting a store after the visit ensuring that the appropriate store details are provided to the customer and that the store is provided with all the necessary information to allow them to progress the customer enquiry.


  1. To evaluate the sub floor, take and record appropriate readings and ensure preparation work required for the installation is quoted for to ensure the fitting goes to plan.


  1. To complete accurate cutting plans whilst on site, which are signed by the customer, to confirm their understanding and acceptance of any joins, change of pile direction and/or price and ensure that the cutting plan is retained safely and made available to the fitting store if a sale progresses.


  1. To advise customers in respect of vacuuming, door trimming, furniture move and uplifting of old carpets and any other Company service as required.


  1. To maintain a professional and friendly demeanor and appearance (in line with the Company dress code), including wearing their Company ID badge, to the customer at all times, to ensure that the Company’s reputation as the country’s leading specialist provider of flooring is maintained.


  1. To comply with all procedures and policies in place relating to the management of diaries and the management of data and documents relating to customers and orders.


  1. For all internet leads or specific HFC bookings the provided mobile showroom must be utilized. The company vehicle must be maintained in a condition which portrays a professional image and must be parked securely at all times. The company vehicle policy must be strictly adhered to. If a private vehicle is used for non-HFC specific appointments or for any other reason, then must ensure that his/her vehicle portrays a professional image, is roadworthy, taxed, has business insurance cover and is Mot’d in line with legislation at all times.



  1. When working in store, to assist with customer sales and queries, store presentation, display and general housekeeping.


  1. To liaise with Store management and colleagues and carry out any other related duties as requested by the Regional Sales Manager, Divisional Manager or other senior manager.


  1. To drive own learning by ensuring that the employee keeps up to date with Company initiatives, new systems, technology and promotions.


  1. To comply with all Company policies and procedures in particular Health and Safety, and security procedures.
